Nic graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry from Oklahoma State University and joined the lab in 2016. His thesis project focuses on protein motions (aka dynamics) in the ligand-binding domains of nuclear receptors and how these motions contribute towards protein function and conformational transitions. He is also investigating the molecular mechanisms of coactivator recruitment by NR4A receptors.
Emily is an undergraduate student majoring in chemistry with a specialization in biochemistry and has been pursuing independent research for credit since the winter quarter of 2020. Emily's project relates to biochemical and biophysical characterizations of protein-DNA interactions involving the NR4A family of the nuclear receptors and their response to various ligands. Emily is a Baker Scholar.
Kade is an undergraduate student and a biological sciences major who has been pursuing independent research for credit since the spring quarter of 2021. Kade's project involves screening and computational docking of small molecule ligands to a coactivator domain and experimental assessing these interactions.
Tilly is an undergraduate chemistry major and data science minor and has been pursuing independent research in the lab since the winter quarter of 2022. Tilly is working with Joey Yang on the project to develop the next iteration of MONSTER.
Kelly is an undergraduate student majoring in biological sciences and has been pursuing independent research in the lab since spring of 2021. Kelly is investigating the interactions of the androgen receptor and its coactivator using biochemical and biophysical methods including NMR spectroscopy.
Joey is an undergraduate student majoring in computer science and has been pursuing independent research in the lab since the spring quarter of 2019. He has been leading the project to develop the next iteration of MONSTER.
Yongbo Zhang is an honorary member of the lab. He joined Northwestern as Manager of the Biological NMR Center in November 2004 after earning his PhD with Mike Zagorski and Frank Sonnichsen at Case Western Reserve University in 2001 followed by a post-doctoral stint with Erik Zuiderweg at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. The lab collaborates with Yongbo on a number of projects.
